(2023). Seasonality and Objective Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour among Older Adults from Four European Countries. Healthcare. https://doi.org/10.3390/healthcare11172395. This paper showcases the examination of 169 older adults across Croatia, Greece, Portugal, and Poland to understand the relationship between objective physical activity, sedentary behavior, and seasonality. Using accelerometers in spring and autumn/winter, most participants met physical activity guidelines year-round. No significant seasonal variations were found for sedentary behavior or physical activity at light and vigorous intensities. However, a decline in moderate physical activity was noted from spring to autumn/winter, particularly in those with lower education and higher BMI. The findings stress the need to promote physical activity, especially at a moderate intensity, for healthy aging, particularly in populations with higher BMI and lower educational levels, throughout the year. | |
